The future of desserts – Mizu Shingen Mochi ” The Water cake”

I was on Pinterest the other day, browsing, when I came across this wierd looking photo.
At first it said rice dessert. I just had to take a closer look., it looks insane. It is a Japanese dessert and the Japanese are famous for their futuristic and odd looking food.
Which kind of appeals to me actually. So you can imagine I couldn’t resit having a look.

We are in 2015 and the food shows on TV and the huge food industry has taken on huge proportions. Chefs are competing on making the most desirable and trendy plate out there. Creme brulee? please! that is so 2014.

The Mizu Shingen Mochi, or also known as the Water cake, is actually made of rice. Or rice starch and it is said that if you don’t eat it within 30 minutes it will disappear.

How cool is that! It just makes me go to Japan even more now! In Japan, locals can stand in line for hours to get a plate of the Mizu Shingen Mochi.
